You can sometimes see through the fiberglass.

I prefer the fibre ones beacuse they are a bit more sturdy and you are a bit safer around electric. They are a bit heavier though

I own both, I like the fiberglass for a step ladder and the aluminum for the extension ladder.

Aluminium costs less and is lighter. They are weaker and conduct electric though.
Fiberglass is more expensive but stronger and do not conduct electric.

Go with the fiberglass–it's a non-conductive material.

Fiberglass doesn't conduct electricity as readily as aluminum, also stronger and more stable than aluminum.Worth the initial additional expense. Here is a link to a manufacturer for more info…

Aluminum – lighter, usually less expensive, read the max weight rating and add some poundage.
Fiberglass – Heavier, less wobbly, more expensive usually, again, make sure you check the max weight.
Whatever you choose, don't cheap out. Nothing worse than having a 28 ft ladder fold up on you when you're near the top.

personally i prefer fiberglass to aluminum…aluminum can ground out and you'll get shocked, as for weight there about the same, and price…fiberglass is cost's more but is worth it.

the only nice thing about aluminum ladders is that they are light and cheaper but you get what you pay for. an aluminum step isnt bad i guess depending on how much weight will be on it butfor an extension ladder go with fiberglass. I have seen the aluminum ones fold when people were on them! they just arent made to hold much weight although they say there rated for it dont believe everything you read!

The main advantage of fiberglass ladders is the reduction of electric shock from contact with electric wires. A disadvantage of fiberglass ladders is the tendency of fiberglass to *****. The inverse of this applies to aluminum.
I bought a Little Giant ladder; it is a 300lb rated aluminum ladder with great stability and can function as a 12' step ladder and a 21' extension ladder. It cost me over $400, but after using it for over a year I would not buy any other kind regardless of the price. This is a solid, well-made ladder with great versatility. It also comes in smaller versions; I think the smallest one collapsed takes up only about 5 feet of space.

Aluminum is lighter, both last a long time: but if you are working around electrical wirer's Fiberglass is a non-conductor were as Aluminum is a excellent conductor. For painting painters are required to use either wood or fiberglass to avoid being electrocuted. Hope this answers your question.
